Artists Helping the Homeless, the 501(c)3 started to: - assist those seeking help, greeting them by name and - providing meals with comradery - providing other needed goods and services - facilitating services others provide - raise awareness of homelessness In its first year, AHH has provided nearly 4,000 servings, primarily Sunday evenings at Mill Creek Park. While the meal is important, conversations with the volunteers, including a group of students from Mid-American Nazarene University, are appreciated the most. Working with St. Lukes, AHH has communicated available programs to provide medical services before they reach the ER level. Last week, St. Lukes repaired a hernia through this program. AHH assisted others in obtaining employment and moving on to new starts. Development of for credit programs with MANU and Kansas City Art Institute CASTLE program are being explored. AHH is working with Homeless Services Coalition to develop more housing in Kansas City. Currently working with the Department of mental health & housing to learn how to provide more housing with counseling services from Truman Hospital. A homeless shelter is the eventual goal for AHH. On the awareness front, AHH will host its first Ar t Walk and luncheons the weekend of September 19/20. Earlier this year, AHH participated in the Kansas City Home Show. Above is a rough summary of what we are doing and trying to accomplish.
(Artists Helping the Homeless)

<div style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;
